The Foundations of Headstand

  • Inna Bliss Bulimba 57 Oxford Street Bulimba, QLD, 4171 Australia (map)

Learn the fundamentals of going upside down safely.

Often referred to as the king of postures, Headstand (Sirsasana) can be an empowering inversion that, when practiced consistently, builds strength in the upper body and core.

Without consideration of correct technique and the principles of strength, we lose the ability to do the pose with integrity. This is especially important given the susceptibility of injuries amongst inverted poses.

In this workshop, you will:

• Learn the role of the shoulders, core and spine in creating a sustainable Headstand practice.

• Dissect biomechanical principles to invert safely.

• Practice a combination of asana (postures) and drills to prepare for the demands of going upside down.

The aim of this workshop is to develop the fundamental skills needed to invert safely. You may or may not achieve the pose, however you will leave with the skills to move towards Headstand with greater detail, precision and awareness.

Open to practitioners with a regular practice.
